Slowly spreading, rhizomatous perennial with rounded, deeply lobed leaves up to 60cm across that colour nicely in autumn. The pink and white flowers are borne on long stems in late spring before the leaves appear. Has a look about it similar to Gunnera but is a lot smaller and more refined. Grow in moist or boggy soil in sun or partial shade. Grows up to 2m in the wild but I have only ever seen it to about 1 m in gardens. Great for a pond or a streambank.
